About:

Melissa Daigrepont is a licensed attorney and served as a U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General (JAG) from 2002 to 2012. During her time in the military, she completed a hardship tour of duty in Diego Garcia as well as a deployment on the aircraft carrier USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She also served “boots on the ground” in Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). She is a former Senior Vice Commander and current Female Veteran Liaison Officer for Nola VFW Post 8973 in the Irish Channel.

 

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology from Indiana University, a Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Military Law with a specialty in International and Operational Law from the U.S. Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Melissa’s Post 9/11 G.I. Bill benefits gave her the opportunity to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Tulane University – A.B. Freeman School of Business in May 2016.

 

Following her time in the Navy, Melissa worked for the Louisiana District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration in public information, economic development, and international trade. She later worked as a Business Banker with Capital One’s Greater New Orleans team where she led the company’s Salute Military Network for Louisiana and also served as a board member of the Community Corps Council coordinating volunteer events for Capital One associates across Southeast Louisiana. She now runs a boutique law firm specializing in veteran disability claims appeals and immigration law.

 

Melissa founded Glitterous Stimulation NOLA in 2019 to satisfy the need for custom headpieces and signature throws. She specializes in the design and production of original creations and one-of-a-kind items for busy female professionals and out-of-town riders. Glitterous Stimulation also offers bagging and tagging of throws prior to parades for Krewe members who travel from outside of New Orleans for Carnival season.

 

Melissa was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and her family originates from Pointe Coupee and Avoyelles Parishes. In addition to her service with Nola VFW Post 8973, Melissa is a 2018 graduate of the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute (NORLI) and has served on a finance advisory committee to the board of Grow Dat Youth Farm. She is a member of the second consortium of the Greater New Orleans Power of Women CEO Roundtable group, marches with the Bosom Buddies, and rides with the Krewes of Cleopatra and Pygmalion.

 

Melissa lives in Algiers Point with her husband, a Navy pilot, and her four rescue dogs. She enjoys brunches, bubbles, and glittering with her NOLA besties the GlitChicks!
